July 8 – Hebrews 12

Read Hebrews 12

How often do we let the things going on around us get in the way of things that are pointing us to God? I’ll admit, there are times that I choose hanging out with friends over doing my devotionals and I always regret it afterwards. I put God on the back-burner and say that I will read my Bible when I have time, when in reality we should be setting aside time to do devotionals and have some quiet time with God.

Hebrews 12:1 says that we should “strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up.” This means we need to evaluate our lives and point out the things that might be tripping you up. This could be anything from a boyfriend or girlfriend to school and homework.

Take time to think about what might be hindering your time with God. Pray about it and ask Him to help transform this area of your life.
