Merry Christmas!

imageFrom all of us here with Grace Students we want to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas!

The GS Family Christmas was such an awesome night! Not only did we have an awesome time with you guys Sunday night, but God did some amazing things. Three people came to know Jesus as their Savior! Now that’s an awesome Christmas gift!

In case you weren’t there Sunday night, Billy talked about how Jesus wore the original tacky Christmas sweater: humanity.

“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14 (NIV)

Perfection put on flesh, the King of Glory would put aside his heavenly robes and take on the clothing of our human state. This is what Christmas is all about. God became man so that he could get to us.

So why did Jesus come down as a little baby? Well here are three truths to remind us why:

Jesus came…

1. To reach out to us
You and I were made to live with our Creator. We’ve done everything to try to reach out to God and find that in our own strength we cannot… so Jesus reaches out to us. Jesus came as a baby to reach out to us so we can have a relationship with our God.

2. To relate to us
When Jesus came into this world, he did not come in on a chariot. He didn’t come down with trumpets blasting, or awesome background music. He came into our world, the same way you and I did. God loves you so much that he didn’t only reach out to you, he wants you to know that He understands you.

3. To rescue us
“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:21 (NIV) He didn’t only reach out to us or to relate to us, he took all of our junk to rescue us. All the junk, trash, failure, fallings, and mistakes that hold us back from God, the sin and the stains that create an uncrossable chasm between heavens perfection and our brokenness, Jesus took it on to rescue us

We love celebrating Christmas at Grace Students because it’s the time of the year to stop and pause and remember. God reaches us to us, he relates to us, and he rescues us. He came down in the humblest way and died for our sins, so we can have a relationship with God.

We hope you not only remember this now on Christmas day, but always remember this through your walk with Jesus!
